Hey there, I'm Shay. I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner, a wife, a mom but most importantly your biggest supporter in achieving your goals for overall improved mental health and well-being. I am highly rated board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor's of Art in Human Development and Family Studies. I attended Fordham University to pursue a Master in Psychological Counseling, and attended Yale University to pursue a Masters in Nursing, specializing in psychiatric-mental health as well as recently completing a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP). My DNP research focuses on adapting and developing a home-based telepsychiatry program for patients diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder to improve access to care, adherence to treatment and overall quality of life. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I have worked in a variety of settings including community-based outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse services, outpatient private practice, inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse services, and correctional-managed healthcare. I have held many high-profile professional psychiatric positions including the LEAD APRN for a community behavioral health clinic in Connecticut as well as the Director of Psychiatric Nursing for one of the largest mental health facilities in the state of Indiana. I have treated patients as young as 4 years old, and through adulthood. I have treated a variety of mental health diagnoses, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, autism, PTSD and thought disorders. Primarily I focus on initial psychiatric evaluations and if necessary subsequent medication management follow-up. I love to watch my patients flourish and reach their goals; and believe that there is nothing more fulfilling.
