Hi, my name is Kandie Brown. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have a Master’s in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, TX and have been practicing for 5 years. I have worked in mental health services, nonprofits, and education for many years prior to becoming licensed. I strive to help clients find tools to cope with life’s stresses.
A warm-welcoming invite to therapy. Come as you are! Introductions, initial assessment (what brings the client) into therapy and address any questions that the client may have and develop treatment plan goals. Finding a therapist that is a good fit for the client and the therapist is important. We will explore this together.
I follow a systemic approach to therapy and believe that to understand people and their challenges it is important to understand the systems and relationships they are a part of. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is one of authenticity, collaboration, and one that feels safe and supportive. I focus on the client’s strength and resiliency.
I work with adult client's 18+ who are struggling with relationship issues, work stress, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and other conditions who are eager to improve their lives for the better.
CBT is used for a wide range of conditions to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress with replacing them with healthier coping mechanisms. Client will engage in exercises and homework assignments.
SFBT is a short-term goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach, which incorporates positive psychology principles and practices which helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy is breaking away from negative thoughts and patterns, practicing compassion towards oneself, accessing one's own wisdom, increasing curiosity and decreasing judgment.
Humanistic therapy is a form of "talk therapy" that focuses on the client's individual nature, aim to consider the whole person, especially their positive characteristics and potential for growth.
Person-centered therapy is a type of non-directive therapy that is empathetically driven toward providing the client with a safe space to talk, self-actualize (realize your full potential), and make positive changes in their life.
