Hi! I'm Courtney. Therapy is a collaborative journey. I believe in holding space for your story while we work together on achieving your goals. When you come to a therapy session, I hope that you can come as you are, and be your authentic self. The therapeutic relationship is built on trust and asks clients to practice vulnerability in order to examine those parts of us that are no longer serving us. Through this work, we can then discover practical tools that we can use to grow and overcome our biggest challenges. My approach combines an empathic client-centered outlook, informed by research and various evidence-based practices, to help clients feel validated and empowered as they work towards their behavioral goals. I truly enjoy helping individuals through their everyday challenges, childhood memories, trauma, parenting, and life transitions. I use a combination of strength-based, behavioral, and cognitive interventions to help clients become present, focused, and skillful. Throughout my years of practice, I have worked with a diverse population of clients. I have worked closely with families and children in community mental health, adults in more structured short-term therapy, adolescents in the school setting, as well as those struggling with substance abuse. I have had the opportunity to be trained in multiple evidence-based practices, which aligns with my desire to bring research-based treatments into my work. We are all unique and one style of treatment does not fit everyone. My training has given me the tools and knowledge needed to create specialized treatment plans for each individual that I work with.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I find it important that we work together to identify the root of what is causing you distress. We will spend time exploring this and determine strategies or tools that you can incorporate into your everyday life to find relief. I utilize different assessments to help guide us in treatment and notice trends of improvements. I will often check back on the goals we have set for treatment and use those to guide us in our work together.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Many of the modalities that I utilize in treatment are based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This allows us to examine the narratives and assumptions we have about various situations, and challenges us to consider alternate perspectives and notice how that may change our experience. Each client is unique, and I pull from other modalities like Dialectical Behavior Therapy and trauma based approaches to make sure that you can experience a variety of treatments as well as gain a diverse set of tools to take with you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a mom of two young children, I have a passion for working with women who are expecting a child or are raising children themselves. I feel energized when working with children and families. I also have a strong passion for working with individuals who have experienced trauma. The spectrum on which someone can experience trauma is broad, and being a part of an individual's healing journey is an honor.
