Hi! I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker and Behavioral Health Coach. I combine both clinical and coaching practices in order to create lasting change for the people I work with. I focus on helping you tap into your own ability to heal and improve your life, so that you are able to create the life you want. I truly believe everyone has the strength within to overcome life's challenges and my role is to guide and support you in rediscovering those strengths.
The first session is spent gathering background information and getting to know one another. Gathering information will help in creating a treatment plan tailored to address your unique needs and goals. I put emphasis on getting to know one another because I believe the best approach to therapy is a collaborative one.
I truly believe a therapist is only as good as the work they put into themselves. One can only see another at the depths they see themselves. The dedication to my life's practice towards helping others is parallel to my own. I work hard to always challenge myself so that I can bring experience into the therapeutic relationship. If I am going to encourage my clients to get uncomfortable in order to grow, then I feel I must do the same for myself.
I love working with people who are looking to bring more meaning and fulfillment into their lives. These people know they want more for themselves and are just unsure where to start. Clients who approach the therapeutic process with an open mind allows for more creativity towards their desired goals. Clients who are willing to put in the work and effort it takes to create change will benefit most from our time together.
This approach is more out-comes led rather then services-led. It is a way of working that focuses on your strengths, knowledge, and abilities rather than your weaknesses or deficits. It's a holistic practice that views people as resourceful and resilient, and recognizes that they are capable of growth, learning, and change.
If you are someone who tends to act on, run from and/or numb emotions then EFT is for you. At a young age, a lot of us were taught to ignore our emotions, the problem with that is you cannot ignore what is always there. Emotions don't go away if you don't pay attention to them, they build on each other then you find yourself reacting out of proportion to what is really happening. Emotions are simply messengers of our internal and external worlds. If you can better understand and manage your emotions in a more harmonious way then you can better understand and manage yourself and the world in a more harmonious way.
I use this method with people who are struggling to understand how they fit in the world. Life is easier to manage when you have meaning and purpose. This method gives us a chance to explore who you ARE and what is needed to get you there.
The focus of this method is on teaching you skills to manage intense emotions, cope with challenging situations, and improve relationships. This method is more structured and intentional in its delivery. Further more, it brings acceptance to the reality of your life and your behaviors, as well as helping you learn to change your life overall. I personally practice this on a daily basis and have found it life-changing.
Although your past is important, it is not the solution to why you are seeking help. I feel it is important to focus on what we can create and change NOW since that is what we do have control over. I take a Solutions-Focused approach, based on your past experiences, to create movement TOWARDS your future goals not your past pain.
