Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker based in Illinois. I received my Masters from University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana and have been practicing for over 11 years. My client-centered approach focuses on meeting you where you are and providing support with warmth, empathy, and genuineness. Whether you need help processing emotions, setting boundaries, or reducing negative self-talk, my tailored approach can help. Clients often feel like they're talking to a trusted friend during their appointments.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first official visit together counts as our assessment. This just means it is your day to come in and talk about what's been going on recently and what has brought you in today. You can start wherever you like and never have to worry that you are doing it wrong. I normally just listen to people talk and take notes. If you get to the end of what you have to say and I still have questions, I will ask you the questions. After that, we can talk about what you would like to do as far as next appointments.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My therapy style is supportive, interpersonal, and client centered. I can help you look at your situation in a new way and explore options you have. My job is to provide genuine support with empathy and understanding while respecting your autonomy. We will take into account who you are as a whole person and focus on what you can do next to experience some relief. - What was your path to becoming a [practitioner type based on license]? I graduated with a Master’s degree from the University of Illinois and then worked for two years under clinical supervision before becoming licensed by the state to practice independently. - What should someone know about working with you? Your visits will likely feel like talking to a trusted friend (If that friend had extensive mental health knowledge, was legally and ethically bound to keep your information confidential, and did not ever need to discuss their own problems.) - How do your own core values shape your approach to care? I believe in supporting you exactly where you are. It doesn’t matter to me where you are starting from; any place is ok. I believe we should work toward the goals you have for yourself, whatever they are, and not my goals for you.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a licensed therapist, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients manage anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders. In initial sessions, I conduct comprehensive assessments and set SMART goals. Clients learn to recognize and challenge negative thoughts through techniques like thought records and cognitive restructuring. Behavioral interventions and coping skills, including relaxation, problem-solving, and assertiveness training, are taught. Progress is regularly reviewed, and treatment plans are adjusted as needed. This structured and collaborative approach leads to significant improvements in mood, anxiety levels, and overall quality of life, fostering long-term positive change.

Strength-Based

As a licensed therapist, I use Strength-Based Therapy to help clients manage mental health conditions by focusing on their inherent strengths and resources. In initial sessions, we identify past successes and supportive relationships, setting SMART goals. Clients build on their strengths through positive reframing and engaging in strength-utilizing activities. Skills like goal-setting, problem-solving, and self-advocacy are taught. Progress is regularly reviewed and adjusted, with a focus on maintaining gains and leveraging strengths for future challenges. This approach fosters resilience and long-term positive change, improving clients' mood, self-esteem, and overall quality of life.

Relational

As a licensed therapist, I use Rotational Therapy to help clients manage mental health conditions by rotating through various therapeutic approaches to find what works best for them. In initial sessions, I assess the client's concerns, history, and preferences. We set SMART goals and explore different techniques, such as CBT, mindfulness, and strength-based approaches. This flexible method allows clients to benefit from multiple strategies, adapting as needed. Progress is regularly reviewed and the treatment plan is adjusted to maintain gains and address new challenges. This approach fosters resilience and long-term positive change, improving clients' overall quality of life.

Supportive

As a licensed therapist, I use Supportive Therapy to help clients manage mental health conditions by providing a safe and nurturing environment. In initial sessions, I focus on building a strong therapeutic alliance and understanding the client's concerns and goals. We set SMART goals and use active listening, empathy, and validation to support clients. This approach emphasizes encouragement, reinforcement of strengths, and fostering coping skills. Progress is regularly reviewed, and the treatment plan is adjusted to ensure continued support and growth. This method enhances clients' resilience, self-esteem, and overall quality of life.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

As a licensed therapist, I use Rogerian Therapy to help clients manage mental health conditions by providing a client-centered, non-directive approach. In initial sessions, I focus on creating a supportive and empathetic environment, ensuring clients feel heard and valued. We set SMART goals collaboratively, emphasizing unconditional positive regard, empathy, and congruence. This approach empowers clients to explore their feelings and find their own solutions. Progress is regularly reviewed, and the treatment plan is adjusted to support the client's evolving needs. This method fosters self-acceptance, personal growth, and overall well-being.
