New clients continue care with this provider
Hi, My name is Tamyka Scott. I am a Clinical Social Worker with experience with treating anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and perinatal mental health. I've worked in both community mental health and private practice using evidenced based approaches, particularly Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients in building resilience and creating meaningful change.
After the first session, my goal is to provide an experience where individuals will feel a sense of acceptance, understanding, and readiness to begin approaching goals that are collaboratively developed to open doors to a new life journey. By fostering a strong therapeutic alliance, I aim to create a collaborative environment for individuals to feel heard, understood, and supported in their journey towards healing and personal growth.
I believe in a holistic approach to therapy, addressing not only the symptoms but underlying causes by providing unconditional support and a judgement free space.
I work best with individuals who are experiencing challenges with anxiety, trauma and/or perinatal/postnatal mental health and are looking for a compassionate, supportive therapist to guide them through healing. Individuals who are finding themselves stuck, uncertain about the future and want a safe space to explore their thoughts and feelings. If you are ready to work together and take meaningful steps toward feeling more balanced and empowered, we could be a great fit!
As a therapist, I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help individuals build a more meaningful and fulfilling life by introducing skills to cope with difficult thoughts and feelings rather than avoiding them. ACT focuses on developing psychological flexibility--helping you connect with your values, take empowered action, and become more present in the moment. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma or life transitions, ACT can support you in making lasting changes aligned with who you truly want to be.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps individuals understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. By identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and learning strategies to shift them. This approach is goal-oriented, collaborative, and focused on building life skills that support lasting change and emotional well-being.
EMDR Therapy works by activating the brain's natural ability to reprocess painful memories, reducing their emotional charge and helping you feel more in control. Within my practice, EMDR Therapy is used to support individuals experiencing symptoms related to past or recent traumatic events.
