I am so glad you are here reading this. I am a licensed marriage and family counselor, licensed addiction counselor and have a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Somatic Depth Psychology. I have been practicing for over 20 years and this has given me the opportunity to meet some amazingly gifted and intelligent people who I am proud to call my clients. The focus of my work today is to help people find their way back to their most authentic self by acknowledging the parts of themselves that they have been pushing away.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

This first step will begin with you sharing whatever is on your heart and mind. Together we will come up with an action plan that best reflects the goals you have outlined. During this initial session, you are free to ask me any questions you have regarding how we will proceed and how long you can expect to be in therapy. I do not believe in therapy that is drawn out for years. We will review our course of action frequently and make adjustments to ensure you are receiving the maximum benefit for the time, money and effort you are putting forth.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked extensively with first responders, active-duty military, vets and civilians to address their most difficult experiences, I wholeheartedly believe that my own personal life experiences, compassion, empathy and professional nature will serve you well.

My treatment methods

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is commonly used to treat trauma-related disorders including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Its effectiveness lies in its ability to help individuals process distressing memories and associated emotions and sensations. The best use of EMDR in therapy practice is for clients who have experienced significant trauma or distressing events, such as survivors of abuse, accidents, or combat veterans. It can also be beneficial for individuals struggling with anxiety, or phobias.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals develop psychological flexibility by accepting their thoughts and feelings rather than trying to control them, and committing to actions that align with their values. ACT is used to help people with various mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, chronic pain, substance abuse, and trauma. It aims to empower individuals to live more meaningful and fulfilling lives by promoting psychological flexibility, resilience, and a greater sense of well-being by helping individuals develop more adaptive ways of responding to life's challenges.

Christian Counseling

Christian counseling offers a unique approach to therapy that integrates psychological principles with Christian faith and values, providing individuals with holistic support and guidance in their journey toward healing and wholeness.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Central to IFS therapy is the concept of the "Self," or "True Self," which represents the core, compassionate, and wise aspect of an individual. The goal of IFS is to help individuals access their most authentic Self and develop a nurturing and guiding relationship with it. By doing so, individuals can lead their integral system with wisdom, compassion, and clarity, facilitating healing, integration, and personal growth. IFS therapy involves various techniques, including visualization, dialogue, and mindfulness practices, to explore and understand the different parts of the psyche, resolve inner conflicts, and promotes greater harmony and balance within the individual. It is effective in addressing a wide range of issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and personal development.
