About me

Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with over 6 years of experience in the field. I support youth and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties, emotion regulation challenges, and the impacts of trauma. As we try our best to adapt to the world around us, we can sometimes develop patterns that are unhelpful or that no longer serve us in our current circumstances. These patterns can lead us to feel stuck or can prevent us from being fully present in our lives and with those we love. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process and that you are the expert of your own experience. I will work alongside you to build insight, foster self-compassion, and help you to identify and utilize your own internal resources for healing. My goal is to help you develop strategies to cope with distressing feelings while exploring and addressing underlying contributing factors.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Meeting a new therapist can be a daunting experience for anyone, regardless of your past experiences or attitudes about therapy. In our first session together, we will first discuss your relationship to therapy and address any fears, anxieties, hesitations, or hang-ups. We will explore your primary concerns and reasons for seeking therapy, as well as approaches that you have taken in the past that have worked (or not worked). I also understand that the challenges we face do not occur in a vacuum- it will be crucial to explore contextual factors including upbringing, familial relationships, friendships, employment and education, as well as systemic factors including socioeconomic status, gender, race, and culture.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I truly believe that at their core, people make sense. Meaning- our behaviors, thoughts, and feelings (both helpful and unhelpful) are shaped over time as we try our best to adapt to the world around us. This foundational understanding allows me to approach my work with empathy, curiosity, and compassion. I strive to create a therapeutic space where my clients feel heard, understood, and motivated.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with teens and young adults who struggle with challenges such as depression, anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, emotion regulation problems, and the impacts of trauma. I also enjoy working with caregivers of young children who may be struggling to prioritize self-care and need support to process the many challenging emotions that arise as a parent. My 6+ years as a child and adolescent therapist working with children, caregivers, and families uniquely positions me to support caregivers in the individual therapy setting. Together, my clients and I challenge unhelpful beliefs, manage distressing emotions, and reprocess painful experiences in order to improve present-day functioning, break unhelpful patterns, and live a meaningful, intentional life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been utilizing CBT in my practice for the past 5 years. Through CBT, we will explore the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and work together to address unhelpful patterns and improve functioning.

EMDR

I was trained in EMDR through the Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy (an EMDRIA-approved course). Through the use of EMDR therapy, my clients have been able to process and heal from a variety of painful experiences. Together we will explore the connection between your past experiences and present-day challenges. By utilizing the therapeutic space to tap into the deep emotional and physical sensations tied to painful memories, I will support you to reprocess and heal from these experiences.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have been utilizing Trauma-Focused CBT in my practice for the past 5 years. For folks that have experienced trauma, it can feel like there are times where you are not in control of your own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. TF-CBT is an evidence-based practice that involves learning about how trauma influences us across these domains and leads to unhelpful responses to trauma reminders (sometimes called triggers). I will support you to explore the specific impacts of your traumatic or stressful experiences and to create an adaptive integration of your past experiences into your larger life story.

I had been in therapy for about six months and felt like I was spinning my wheels and not making any progress. Choosing to work with Molly was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have grown so much in the past month than the entire time I was with another therapist. She is AMAZING!!

Molly was very nice, validating, and caring. She did a great job making me feel comfortable and creating a safe space for me to share and open up on my own terms.

Molly was great! During our first session, she made me feel so comfortable and I immediately clicked with her. She was very clear on what she felt would be a good treatment plan for me and provided great insight on the "why" behind what she was recommending.
