Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, (LPC), in Texas. I received my Masters from UT Brownsville. I also have a PhD in the Philosophy of Psychology where my research was in Positive Psychology. I have been helping people move from problems to new possibilities in their loves for about 15 years. Mental and emotional problems make us feel stuck but each person has power to overcome and move to flourishing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session there is an opportunity for you to ask any questions so as to fully understand the counseling process. Then also for you to share what you fully want from the counseling experience to get started on the journey from problem to new possibilities. Part of this is working on a goal plan that fits your needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a passion for listening and understanding a person's story so as to provide the best tools to help them move forward to a flourishing life to move above and beyond their problems. I call this Living More Than OK. To help people not just solve the problem and settle into the mundane but to let their journey spiral up to higher levels of flourishing.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With CBT I believe in the power of our minds and choices to overcome mental and emotional problems we face. Many problems that take over our lives can be over come by examining our thoughts and the power of the words we say to ourselves.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution Focused therapy is goal oriented and fits well with CBT as it is using the power of the will to help find solutions to real life problems that work for each person. People can then move on in life with practical tools to overcome other problems that come up in life.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

The psychological research shows that especially with trauma and anxiety mindfulness based CBT is helpful in moving in positive directions in life. Mindfulness helps improve personal awareness that is often key to the healing process.

Christian Counseling

Over the years I have been helpful to individuals and couples with a Christian worldview in helping them overcome problem areas in their lives. The principles used often relate well to any Spiritual based belief system.
