I am a licensed clinical social worker LCSW, licensed in the state of Florida with over 9 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.A. in Psychology, cum laude, and a minor in Public Administration. I then obtained my MSW in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University where I graduated summa cum laude. I have worked with clients ranging from children as young as age 5, to late adulthood that suffer from a wide array of concerns: Anxiety, ADHD, Addiction, Bipolar I and II, comorbid disorders, depression, couples counseling, LGBTQ+ issues, OCD, PTSD, and trauma.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with you telling me the specific challenges you are currently facing. I will then ask you questions based on that information. It will be an organic process. I will ask you questions about your history and your childhood, so I can get a full picture of how to tailor your treatment. For example, do you have childhood trauma? Is that playing a role in what you are experiencing today? Is it affecting your current relationships? Etc.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with people from all walks of life, my client's often tell me that I'm "easy to talk to," and "I make them feel safe." I am straightforward and I don't beat around the bush. This is a safe space with no judgement, so nothing but authenticity here. Come as you are!

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

All of the therapy I do is rooted in mindfulness. ACT encourages the client to embrace their thoughts/feelings/emotions rather than pushing them away, or feeling guilty about them. ACT techniques emphasize acceptance rather than avoidance.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I will teach the client to recognize his/her negative automatic thoughts, which lead to dysfunctional thought patterns, which ultimately leads to those undesirable behaviors they wish to change. Mindfulness and thought stopping are taught as a part of this process.

EMDR

EMDR is a trauma focused therapy that involves opening up the neuropathways in the brain where the trauma is stored, and reliving the traumatic memory while following an object with your eyes. This in essence "purges" the trauma from your consciousness. EMDR is highly efficacious for healing trauma of all kinds.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is a modified form of cognitive therapy that incorporates mindfulness practices that include present moment awareness, meditation, and breathing exercises.

Motivational Interviewing

MI is a therapeutic interviewing technique that when used helps the therapist to assist their client's in resolving ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to change their behavior.
