I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with nearly ten years experience in counseling. I recently moved to Colorado but will remain licensed in Texas and will continue to work with Texas clients. I have worked with clients with a wide range of challenges but my specialties include parenting difficulties, childhood trauma, abuse, Autism, social difficulties, mood disorders, grief, ADHD, anxiety and depression. My counseling approach is person-centered and I strive to create an environment in which you feel safe to share your story. I have always believed that everyone can benefit from counseling and I believe that is even more true as we have all been touched by the difficulties and challenges of the last few years related to pandemic stress, isolation and loss.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I typically treat first sessions as a time to learn more about your story and your experiences and where you would like to focus counseling. So there is no pressure to know exactly what you want to talk about or say. There are a couple of things we do cover in the first session but, If you do know exactly what you want to talk about, we can also dive right in. At the moment, my calendar shows availability on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. However, I can also schedule throughout the week. Please reach out if you need to schedule a time outside of the openings on the calendar and I can set you up.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One thing that I tell all of my clients is that I want you to find the best counselor for you that you feel safe and comfortable working with.  For counseling to be effective, it has to be with a counselor you feel you can trust with your story. My priority is providing a safe, judgement-free space for that process.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and began adding it as a treatment method two years ago. I am currently completing advanced training to be an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist. Over the course of my practice, I have found EMDR to be one of the most effective treatments for complex trauma. In my practice, I integrate the use of RemotEMDR, a specialized platform for conducting EMDR therapy remotely. This has enabled me to provide consistent and effective therapy to clients regardless of their location. My experience with clients has shown that EMDR can lead to tremendous progress, particularly for those who have spent years in traditional talk- therapy approaches with limited results.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have advanced training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and have practiced for nearly 10 years. In my practice, I use TF-CBT to address a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and suicidal ideation that stem from trauma. I have found TF-CBT to be effective with children, adolescents and adults. My experience has shown that TF-CBT can be a powerful tool in helping clients process their trauma, develop coping skills, and ultimately achieve significant improvements in their mental health and well-being.
