Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Texas and have been treating patients in higher levels of care for over five years. I received my master's degree from Capella University. I have worked with adolescents and emerging adults to help reduce and/or eliminate depression, anxiety, suicidal ideations, and self harm urges through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy by helping create healthier coping strategies and communication skills.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In my first session with a patient, there will be brief introductions, an opportunity for the patient to ask questions about treatment, and then we will go into what has brought them into therapy and what they want to work on. At the end of the session the patient will usually have at least one goal to help them start towards achieving their mental health goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

In working with adolescents and young adults, I have learned that it is better to be open and honest about what is perceived they need to work on, as well as providing specific tools for coping skills, boundaries, communication skills, mindfulness, and identifying triggers and stressors.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy extensively in my work with adolescents for over five years. It is the primary treatment modality I prefer to use due to it's proven effectiveness in modifying behaviors and changing harmful thought patterns. I have had positive outcomes with patients that exhibit depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, suicidal ideations and self harming behaviors.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

During my work with patients I run across the occasional patient who can only make change through actions. Solution focused therapy helps some of my patients recognize the value of changing behaviors by seeing the results of the modified actions they take.
