In our first session together, we will spend time getting to know each other to determine if this feels like a good fit for you. I will give you the opportunity to share whatever circumstances have led you to seek therapy, and I will do my best to make the session feel like a conversation so that you feel comfortable, relaxed, and safe to share your goals and expectations for therapy. I will answer any questions you might have about the therapy process, my experience, and treatment methods, and at the end of the session, I will check in with you to determine whether you would like to move forward with therapy.

My background and experience prior to becoming a psychotherapist in private practice are primarily with adults and geriatrics in a medical mental health setting, but I enjoy working with adults in all walks of life and with a wide variety of mental health diagnoses. This approach can be powerful in mitigating negative thought patterns and replacing them with more constructive ones, thus leading to improved mental health outcomes in your therapy journey.
My experience with psychodynamic therapy has influenced my understanding of the unconscious mind, the importance of early childhood experiences, and how these elements can contribute to a deeper self-awareness. I utilize psychodynamic techniques, such as free association, exploring transference, mirroring, and moment-to-moment tracking, to help my clients explore their unconscious thoughts and feelings. These techniques allow me to help you gain insight into your emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and foster more adaptive coping mechanisms. However, my primary goal throughout the therapeutic process is to use an integrated approach to meet you where you are and create a treatment plan that best meets your needs and goals for therapy.
