Hello, I'm Damon Bradley aka Yellow Hawk, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California with a passion for supporting individuals struggling with anxiety, depression and addiction. As an Army veteran and Native American (Coastal Band Chumash), I bring a unique perspective and understanding to my work. With over 10+ years of experience in the field, and 3+ years as a clinical social worker, I have had the privilege of walking alongside countless individuals on their journey towards healing and recovery. Additionally, as a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS), I draw upon my own lived experience to inform and connect with clients on a deeper level of understanding and empathy. I'm dedicated to providing culturally sensitive care, using evidenced based and non traditional holistic practices. My passion is to help individuals reach optimal levels of health and wellness by interconnecting the mind, body and spirit. Remember, knowledge is not power without application. Once applied, it becomes wisdom. "Life is a series of heartbeats, every heartbeat is a gift , since we don't know when the next heartbeat will be our last, the best we can do is try to live each heartbeat to the fullest"! -Yellow Hawk

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our initial session, we will take the time to get to know each other and establish a comfortable and confidential therapeutic relationship. You can expect a warm and empathetic welcome, an overview of my approach and therapy style and a collaborative exploration of your goals, concerns and motivations for seeking therapy. I will review confidentiality and informed consent as a requirement by all licensed clinicians. I incorporate active listening, empathy and reflective statements to get clarity and have a better non-judgmental understanding of your situation. I also help my clients with the identification of initial steps and strategies to address identified concerns. The first session is an opportunity for us to connect, build trust, and lay the foundation for our therapeutic journey together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength as a therapist lives in my ability to seamlessly blend empathy, cultural humility, and evidence-based techniques to create a truly personalized and transformative experience for each client. What sets me apart is my unique blend of lived experience as an Army veteran and Native American, combined with over a decade of expertise in anxiety, depression, and addiction. This distinctive fusion enables me to approach each client with a profound understanding of the intersections between trauma, identity, and resilience. By honoring the complexities of each individual story, I empower clients to reclaim their strengths, reframe their challenges, and rediscover their inherent capacity for growth and healing.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

When working with a client using CBT, I will help you identify and challenge irrational core beliefs that negatively affect your feelings and behaviors that contribute to your distress. I will collaborate with you to identify specific steps and coping skills to assist you in achieving your goals. Ultimately leading you to the be best version of yourself. Over the years I have witnessed this evidenced based therapeutic approach positively impact my clients, and their loved ones lives.

Strength-Based

Clients are impowered by identifying and building on their existing strengths and resilience. We collaborate to leverage your strengths, skills and proven abilities, to achieve your goals and overcome your challenges. This approach fosters self-esteem, confidence and hope. I encourage my clients to take an active role in their personal growth and development.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I work with my clients to identify and amplify their strengths and resources, rather than dwelling on problems. Together, we explore exceptions to the problem, times when the issue is less severe, and identify small, achievable steps toward a desired future. By focusing on solutions rather than deficits, clients build momentum and confidence and develop practical strategies to achieve their desired goals. I have used this in working with individuals that are trying to set goals in dealing with a life activating events such as divorce, communicating with loved ones, and addiction issues.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness interventions increase our ability to tolerate the moment without judging ourselves, others, or our environment. I have witnessed countless clients transform their lives with Mindfulness Based Therapy and I am committed to using this method to help more individuals achieve mental health and happiness.
