My name is Mariah Moore and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) based in Temecula, CA, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I have experience working in outpatient and higher-level care settings across all ages using a variety of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy along with Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Gestalt Play Therapy. My clinical areas of expertise are relationships, trauma, PTSD, life transitions, grief, Autism, personality disorders, and behavior modification.
Just two people trying to get to know one another. Getting to know your therapist is an important part of the therapeutic journey. We will also be spending the majority of the time talking about what has brought you to therapy and where you want to see difference in your life.
I started out working as a Behavior Interventionist working with children with Autism during my undergraduate schooling. After 4 years of working in the field, I found that I had a growing passion for working closely with families and enjoyed celebrating the success and progress of my clients. From there, I decided to pursue a Master's in Counseling Psychology. Every day I am amazed by the resilience of the clients I work with and overall I enjoy seeing the profound impact therapy can have on individuals.
I have experience working in outpatient therapy settings as well as working in higher levels of care including Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP). I typically work with individuals seeking support for a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress management, suicidal Ideation, and relationship issues. I am particularly comfortable treating clients dealing with emotional regulation, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges. I also work with clients aiming to improve their communication skills or seeking personal growth and greater self-awareness.
Instead of trying to "get rid of" painful thoughts or feelings (which often doesn’t work long-term), ACT helps you change your relationship with them. It’s about learning skills to stay present, open up to experience, and take action based on your values, even when life is challenging. Ive seen this method to be beneficial working with clients that struggle with severe depression.
Christian counseling is a form of therapy that integrates psychological principles with Christian faith and values. I am comfortable with integrating faith in therapy sessions.
CBT is a practical, goal-focused type of therapy that helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected—and how changing one can improve the others. This modality is commonly used and I will implement in majority of therapy sessions.
Person-Centered Therapy is a gentle, respectful approach to counseling that focuses on you as the expert of your own life. The therapist’s role is not to “fix” you or give a bunch of advice, but to provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings—and grow at your own pace. Your sessions are about YOU! Your therapist is there to guide you and provide a safe environment for you to process.
Some people only need therapy for a short period of time to help them move through what ever crisis is presenting in their life at the moment. Solution-Focused Therapy is a goal-oriented, future-focused approach that helps you move forward by building on your strengths, resources, and what’s already working in your life.
