I am a licensed professional counselor in Georgia with more than 29 years of experience working as a counselor and encourager. I have worked with clients with a host of presenting problems, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting struggles, discovering postsecondary options, ADHD, and OCD. I have worked with people who have low self-esteem and need to rediscover their good qualities. I have worked with people struggling through life transitions who just need to reset.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is all about "the big picture." I guide clients through questions about their past and present and what led them to this session. My goal is to connect with the client so we can start building a therapeutic alliance, and to gather information so we can determine appropriate treatment goals. Then we get started working together to meet those goals!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am a retired public school educator who acquired counseling credentials early in my career. That training served me well because it taught me how to connect with people and serve them in a variety of conditions. I have overcome some setbacks in my own life which gives me perspective. I strive to be non-judgmental. I am positive by nature and use my sense of humor to put clients at ease.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I think it takes bravery to ask for help and I respect that. My ideal clients are those who are ready to put in the work to identify the root causes of issues and then take actions to overcome negative impacts.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is very effective because it focuses on the inner connection of thoughts, feelings and behaviors. As we identify and evaluate thinking and its impact, we can develop skills to help us manage issues that stem from them.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based therapies help us to live in the present and to take control of imbalances in the parts of the brain that impact mental health.
