About me

Life can feel overwhelming, relationships can be complicated, and emotions can be messy. But you don’t have to figure it all out alone. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore your thoughts and experiences in a way that truly makes sense for you. I’m Nevedha White, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of The Rooted Refuge. I hold a Master of Social Work, along with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Social Work from the University of South Florida. My academic training and years of clinical experience have given me a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, human development, and evidence-based therapeutic practices. I have experience working with individuals of all ages—including children, young adults, couples, and families. My specialties include supporting neurodivergent individuals, navigating attachment and identity, and helping those struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I also have a deep passion for working with LGBTQ+ individuals, those from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, and people living with chronic illness and pain. Over the course of my career, I have supported clients in community mental health, outpatient family services, crisis centers, and intensive care programs. My training in CBT, DBT, play therapy, art therapy, and animal-assisted techniques allows me to adapt therapy to meet each person’s unique needs. I have also developed and facilitated therapeutic groups that focus on coping skills, emotional regulation, and resilience. At The Rooted Refuge, I bring all of these experiences together to create a safe, affirming, and inclusive practice. My work is rooted in compassion, authenticity, and respect for each individual’s story. Here, you’ll find a space to heal, grow, and build meaningful connections—with yourself and others

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your First Session at The Rooted Refuge Walking into therapy for the first time can feel both exciting and a little nerve-wracking. At The Rooted Refuge, our goal is to make that first step as comfortable as possible. Here’s what you can expect: A Warm Welcome When you arrive, you’ll be greeted with care and invited into a safe, calming dimly lit space. We’ll take a few minutes to go over what therapy looks like here, including confidentiality and any questions you might have. Getting to Know You The first session is about you — your story, your hopes, and what brought you in. You’ll have the space to share at your own pace. There’s no right or wrong way to begin. Exploring Your Story We may talk about: What you’d like support with right now Your personal history and background The people and experiences that matter most to you What helps you feel safe, calm, or understood Your previous experiences with treatment or therapy Setting Goals Together We’ll start to shape your hopes for therapy — whether that’s finding new ways to cope, building stronger relationships, improving confidence, or simply having a place to breathe and be heard. Looking Ahead Before you leave, we’ll decide on next steps together — how often we’ll meet, what approaches might work best, and how we’ll make sure therapy feels supportive for you. I may give you some "soft homework" to start thinking in ways that will help you reach your goals in therapy.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe healing happens when we feel safe, seen, and supported. My approach blends evidence-based practices like CBT, IFS, Attachment theory, coping skills, and emotional regulation strategies with warmth, creativity, and compassion. With years of experience supporting children and families — and as a parent myself — I understand both the clinical and real-life challenges that come with stress, ADHD, or emotional struggles. In our work together, you can expect a balance of structure and play: from mindfulness and coping tools to creative activities, games, and stories that make therapy engaging and meaningful. I take a whole-person approach, looking at emotional, physical, and relational wellbeing, while emphasizing the power of community and connection. Therapy with me is about building resilience, confidence, and belonging — one step at a time. Most clients feel more grounded, happy and secure within a month.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

Attachment therapy supports you in creating and repairing safe, healthy connections with others. You’ll learn how to strengthen trust, improve communication, and build deeper bonds in your most important relationships.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In CBT, you’ll learn how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Together, we’ll identify unhelpful patterns and practice new ways of thinking and responding so you can feel more in control and confident in daily life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT gives you tools to manage big emotions, reduce impulsivity, and improve your relationships. You’ll learn mindfulness, distress tolerance, and communication skills that help you find balance and strength when life feels overwhelming.

Couples Counseling

With the Gottman Method, you and your partner (or co-parent) learn evidence-based tools to strengthen communication, manage conflict, and deepen connection. This approach gives you practical strategies to build trust, respect, and lasting relationships.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS helps you get to know the different “parts” of yourself—like the protective parts and the hurt parts that hold pain. By understanding and caring for all of your parts, you’ll feel more balanced, whole, and compassionate toward yourself.
