I specialize in working with men who struggle with self-esteem, relationships difficulties, motivation issues, social anxiety, ADHD, depression, and parenting issues. The clients I work with generally fall into 3 groups of people. The 1st struggles with self-esteem, social anxiety, some difficulties with forming healthy relationships, sensitivity to rejection, uncertainty of who they are, and being self-critical. The 2nd struggles with ADHD, indecisiveness, following through on goals, feeling disorganized, talking compulsively, racing thoughts, having too many ideas, and being perfectionistic to a fault. The 3rd group I work with are fathers or husbands. They may have difficulties controlling their emotions, connecting with their partner or children in a meaningful way, or communicating their thoughts and feelings in a way that's honest and empathetic. Every client I see is unique and not everything listed always applies, but if you see yourself in any of these groups then I encourage you to keep reading.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In working with clients I try my very best to provide a balance of empathy, thoughtful questioning, constructive feedback, and encouragement around problem solving. Over the years I've been told by multiple clients I have a way of telling them things they need to hear without making them feel judged or criticized. Some common goals I help clients in achieving are... To improve interpersonal skills, feel more confident, reduce self-doubt, set goals more effectively, be more action oriented, empathize with others, better understand and communicate their emotional experience, and to learn to love and accept themselves.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I primarily utilize principles and techniques of Emotionally Focused therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Systems Theory, and Psychodynamic therapy. Collaboratively we work towards client goals by increasing self-awareness, understanding the past and it’s role in the present, and identifying insights and strategies that will help us move forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

While it is not the basis of my approach, my experience as a father, husband, and someone who has grappled with their own mental health challenges is often an asset to my clients. I also pride myself in giving each of my clients an experience tailored to their unique needs and personalities.
