Are you tired of feeling stressed out and stuck? Do you need someone who truly understands what you’re going through? I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field who enjoys helping others make positive changes. I offer a safe space in which you can freely express your concerns without fear of judgement. I've worked extensively with adults who are facing anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions. It can be overwhelming to be dealing with these issues on your own. But please know that you don't have to do this alone and that you can feel better and start to enjoy your life again.
During sessions, I'll tailor treatment to your individual needs and move at a pace that is comfortable for you. We will identify your self-talk or the beliefs that tell yourself about your experiences, including traumatic events, relationship problems, and other challenging situations. Together, we will uncover how these beliefs are impacting you on a daily basis. Overall, you'll gain knowledge about how to stop repeating unhelpful patterns that cause you long-term problems and start taking action toward what you really want your life to be about.
I've worked at community health centers, college campuses, hospitals, and now private practice, which has given me a strong foundation in helping people from a variety of backgrounds and at different life stages. While working in the hospitals, I had the unique experience of working within an interdisciplinary team of nurses, doctors, and other specialists to assist clients & their families in coping with chronic medical issues, loss, and grief.
I love working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. I'm especially adept at helping people who are experiencing stress from life changes, perfectionistic tendencies, anxiety problems, and other painful emotions. For example, you may find that you're confidence is shaken and that you engage in overthinking or ruminating about negative events from the past or future. When this becomes overwhelming, you may try to avoid those distressing beliefs & feelings by staying busy or distracted. Still, these negative patterns continue to resurface, and you feel more and more stuck.
I've been using ACT and other treatment modalities to help my clients overcome negative beliefs about themselves and worries about the future so that they can pursue a rich and meaningful life. We do this by increasing psychological flexibility or the ability to not take every thought you have as the literal truth. In this way, we can create room for the real you to shine through and take committed action toward what is most important to you.
