Greetings, my name is Shamara Quinonez, LCSW-C. Do you struggle with trauma, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, bipolar I/II, or adhd? I am here to create a safe space to discuss your concerns; as life can bring about worry, overwhelm, depression, sadness, mood dysregulation, lack of motivation, procrastination, loneliness, worthlessness, and/or suicidal ideation and self-harm. During our first session we’ll discuss your stressors and needs. We’ll discuss your expectations (and questions) of our time together. I connect through the Trauma-Based Care, Strength’s Based modality, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy, Mindfulness, and Dialectal Behavioral modalities. If you're hesitant, but open to begin your journey, let's start... slowly.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will become acquainted with each other's roles in building a therapeutic rapport. I will ask you to share your current stressors, i.e. "What brought you into therapy today"? Additionally, we will discuss your expectations of our time together and how often we will meet for services. Moreover, we will review HIPAA policies and procedures; such as confidentiality.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strengths as a Mental Health Provider include my expertise in Trauma-Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Therapy. I have a keen ability to assist in identifying negative thought processes, giving words to thoughts, emotions, and feelings to find resolve, and unlearning maladaptive coping tools, to replace with positive affirming tools.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

In utilizing Trauma-Informed Care (TIC), I will provide supportive services both attainable and pertinent to clients who have experienced trauma; processing the question "What has happened to you"? A stark contrast to "What is wrong with you"?

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I will support you in identifying negative thought processes and behaviors to work in replacing each with positive and healthier patterns; enabling you to understand how your thoughts affect your mood and behavior/s.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

In utilizing Mindfulness Behavior Therapy, I will support the client in concentrating on the "here and now". Moving away from negative thought processes through stress reduction techniques, such as breathing exercises, meditation, and symptom additional mitigating exercises.
