(she/her)
I'm so happy you are here. My name is Chauncy, and I'm a Licensed Therapist based in Southern California. Life very rarely goes according to our plans. My goal is to help you navigate the twists and turns so you can live a richer, fuller, more empowered life. Clients of all backgrounds are welcome, and my specialties include anxiety, depression, racially-based PTSD, and religious trauma.
If you're coming to therapy, you are ready for a change. This first step is the hardest, so you can expect some encouragement as well as compassionate listening. We'll see if we are a good fit for each other, and talk about some goals that you have. I'm looking forward to meeting you!
I find that humor always makes its way into a session somehow. Life is funny, and weird, and can be both awful and great at the same time. My strengths are providing evidence-based treatment solutions while also being down to earth and free of judgment.
Life throws so many curveballs our way. How are we supposed to manage it all? It can be overwhelming, and often we find ourselves feeling stuck with no way out. My role as a therapist is to be a non-judgmental, compassionate listener, while providing guidance and new perspective. Together, we can set goals for the future, learn acceptance as well as self-regulation, and figure out solutions to change our circumstances.

CBT is an excellent way to examine how our thoughts and beliefs affect our lives. By utilizing CBT, we can work together on how to approach problems with a new perspective. CBT also incorporates goal setting which can be useful for everyone!
Our culture / race, and the way the world perceives and treats us directly impacts our mental health. With a culturally sensitive therapeutic approach, we'll explore together how to become the most empowered version of ourselves while dealing with these pressures.
Life can be difficult, and we don't always know how to navigate what gets thrown our way. Existentialism allows us to contemplate life's curveballs without getting stuck. We learn to accept what can't be changed, become emboldened to change what we can, and grow throughout the process.
Not everyone wants to dive into their childhood, and that's ok! We can do this when/if you're ready. It is common knowledge that the way we were nurtured as children has a significant role in how we see current relationships and the world at large. For those who are willing, attachment-based therapy can be a very positive experience.
Are you wanting to dive right in and get some quick help for a specific problem? SFBT may be for you! This is a short-term style of therapy in which we look at one particular area from all angles and make quick changes to address it.
