Gary L Green Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Georgia. I received my Masters from the Argosy University of Atlanta and have been practicing for 10 years. I help individuals struggling with addictions, anxiety, career stress and burnout become the best versions of themselves. As a clinical mental health professional, I strive to create a safe and confidential place where all clients can address their personal and professional issues supported by evidence-based practices and empathy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan or treatment plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. When you engage in therapy, your treatment plan serves as a roadmap for your sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am convinced that effective psychotherapy includes building rapport, trust, and achieving awareness through a collaborative process where patient and therapist work together to achieve stated goals. This includes evidence-based methods, learning about the issue or disorder, applying solutions and developing skills and strategies to manage difficulties. I work with men to discover how to open up more in their relationship and stop recreating patterns that undermine their happiness. I work with individuals on mental health issues, work, stress and more.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an action-oriented approach to psychotherapy that combines elements from traditional behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. In ACT, clients learn to stop avoiding, denying, or struggling with their inner emotions. Instead, they accept that these feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations. ACT aims to develop and expand psychological flexibility. ACT can help treat a range of mental and physical conditions.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Therapy can help to uncover the underlying causes of your worries and fears, learn how to relax, look at situations in a new, less frightening way, and develop better coping mechanisms and problem-solving skills.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is a powerful therapeutic approach that combines elements of cognitive therapy with mindfulness practices. MBCT was specifically formulated to address depression and prevent relapse in individuals who have experienced multiple depressive episodes.

Psychoeducation

Empowerment Through Knowledge or Psychoeducation is a crucial aspect of therapy, providing knowledge, resources, and coping skills related to specific mental health conditions or concerns. Psychoeducation has been shown to enhance treatment outcomes. By providing information and tools, it equips individuals to navigate challenging conditions effectively. Psychoeducation offers patients and their families information about the causes, symptoms, prognosis, and available treatments for diagnosed mental health conditions.

Trauma-Focused CBT

While many people can recover from trauma over time with the love and support of family and friends and bounce back with resiliency, others may discover the effects of lasting trauma, which can cause a person to live with deep emotional pain, fear, confusion, or posttraumatic stress far after the event has passed. In these circumstances, the support, guidance, and assistance of a therapist are fundamental to healing from trauma.
