Hello, I am Martin Do you feel that your life has lost value and meaning? Let us team up to take back ownership of your life's journey. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in Texas, as well as a Combat Navy Veteran. I have been practicing for 3 years in community health, outpatient, inpatient, and private practice settings. I am experienced in facilitating healthy life changes. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma substance use, PTSD, relationship issues, or any other obstacle that prevents you from living the life that you desire; identifying the right therapist for you is an important part of getting yourself back on track. I have experienced a variety of obstacles, and personally understand how the therapeutic process can help change one's life. Let us work together to tackle life challenges and restore the healthy balance that we all enjoy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I help people identify the necessary tools they need for positive change. Together we will deal with your issues using strength-based interventions. I find that awareness, mindfulness, and being present are characteristics that assist in helping individuals take responsibility of their life experiences.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a combat Navy Veteran, I have a great deal of experience working with people suffering from PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use, and various forms of traumas. My lived experiences help connect me to individuals who share these issues. I love to establish strong therapeutic relationships and provide a safe place to share their life stories.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In our sessions we will use CBT to focus on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT is employed to help individuals understand and change unhealthy patterns of thinking and behaving. Examples include, coping skills, thought restructuring, challenging negative thoughts and behaviors, and implementing behavior strategies.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach that I primarily use to address symptoms associated with trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). EMDR involves a structured eight-phase process and incorporates bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, to help process distressing memories. Trauma clients and typically have a positive response to this form of therapy but it is not limited that maladaptation.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a counseling approach that I use to help individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about behavior change. Motivational Interviewing is a client focused approach that respects the autonomy of the individual. It helps clients explore their own motivations for change and empowers them to make decisions that align with their values and goals. It is effective with addiction counselling but can be used for depression, and other disorders.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

The therapeutic relationship is considered crucial in person-centered therapy, as the quality of the relationship between the client and therapist contributes significantly to the success of the therapy. I use this approach across various settings, including individual therapy, couples counseling, and group therapy.
