We often have what we need within us to heal, but sometimes anxiety, depression, trauma, or internal conflict can get in our way from using that knowledge to make the progress that we want to feel. Have you been trying to wake up on time but depression gets in your way? Or, have you been wanting to start or complete projects but have been procrastinating? Therapy can help you cope with the stressful things in your life, so that you can move forward in how you want to.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

A first session usually starts with brief introductions and a quick review of paperwork/policies. Then, I'll start asking you questions to get to know you and what brought you to therapy. After that, together, we set goals or a a direction to head the therapy in, so we're both on the same page for future sessions. First session wraps up with addressing any questions or concerns you might have about continuing therapy and scheduling you're next appointment.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I believe that your identity, history, family/relationships, and strengths matter in how I work with you. I will respect and empower you to choose what you want to work on in therapy but I'll also encourage you to look at the entire picture of your whole self, rather than only focusing on what's "going wrong." To help me do this, I use trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well integrating some Parts work, into my therapy sessions. In between sessions, I may ask you to practice the coping skills we learn in session, journal, or other activities so that the growth that you want to make can be sustained.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

In the majority of my therapy work, I have focused on supporting clients cope with anxiety and depression, trauma, chronic pain/illness, family and relationship conflict, and self-esteem issues. I have a particular joy and experience working with folks in the LGBTQ+ and poly/non-monogamous communities! I provide virtual therapy, so I can work with anyone in Pennsylvania and Missouri.
