I grew up in a family that didn't talk about mental health, and yet mental health touched every aspect of my life! Through my own mental health journey, I discovered that the human mind is a marvelous tool with so much power and potential locked inside, but the vast majority of us never learn how to unlock it. I have worked in various drug and alcohol treatment centers and inpatient psychiatric facilities as well as school districts and homeless shelters. My typical clients suffer from addiction, trauma, anxiety, or eating disorders. I also have experience working with postpartum mamas and those walking through marital difficulties.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions and house cleaning items, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Having worked with addiction and mental illness for over 10 years, I have found that the relationship between therapist and client to be the most powerful tool in your healing process. I am all about connection and creating a shame-free space for you to bring your issues and be your most authentic self.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My passion is supporting individuals who are healing from addiction, eating disorders, and trauma. The fact that you’ve asked for help means you’ve already begun the transformation. My clients show up ready to grow and engage deeply, both in and outside of session. Together, we’ll imagine the version of yourself you’re striving toward—and let that vision shape the path we walk together.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
CPT is a cognitive process, similar to CBT, applied to traumatic memories and how they show up in your life today. I like to use CPT in combination with Rapid Resolution Therapy.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
A tangible series of skills to use for distress tolerance, emotional dysregulation, substance use, and eating disorders. There is an emphasis on minduflness. DBT was originally developed to treat borderline personality disorder, but research indicates DBT is effective for a number of issues (substance use, eating disorders, anxiety).
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Here, I will teach you how to become the "watcher" of your thoughts. This technique puts you back in the driver's seat of your mind. Focus on maladaptive thoughts and replacing them with more balanced thoughts. I also like to incorporate mindfulness with CBT.
Hypnotherapy
I am trained in Rapid Resolution Therapy (a hypnotherapy modality) and will incorporate this when appropriate.
Faith based therapy
For myself, I would rename this as "Spiritual based therapy." I have found spiritual teachers to be particularly impactful in recovery from substance abuse, eating disorders, and other maladies.

She agreed to send a letter to my primary care provider about my therapy. That helps me with ongoing disability.
