Hi and welcome to the first step in your healing journey. I understand that taking this first step can be difficult, but it is courageous and I'm here to support you on your journey. I have 15 years of experience in the mental health field working with adults, adolescents, children, and families with a wide range of mental health needs including anxiety, trauma, depression, grief and loss, parenting, and life stressors. My diverse background equips me to help people in different stages of life with a variety of needs. I truly enjoy working with children but I have a general belief that in-person care is the best option. I have treatment specific interest in treating anxiety disorders and the inevitable complications with daily life struggles that develop with anxiety-based symptoms. Anxiety is often linked to events that were experienced as traumatic or confusing in childhood or during our adult lives. I believe that everyone is unique as well as their life experiences therefore treatment interventions need to be individualized.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The goal of our first session will be to explore your own goals and what brings you to therapy. We will explore your history, strengths, and present challenges. In the following sessions, I am careful to explore each person's unique experience as a necessary foundation for providing interventions that are accurate and helpful. I place high importance on listening carefully to your story as we work together to find the place(s) that you need or want to adjust. This is often about removing barriers that are hard to see or that are immobilizing. In some ways, I think about therapy as a guide for the change you are seeking.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I value empathy and connection in the healing process. I believe that a trusting, therapeutic relationship is essential in creating a safe space for you to be able to talk about emotionally painful things, gain insight, and find paths toward healing and personal growth. I would describe my style as empathetic, supportive, and laid-back. I am also comfortable with incorporating a Biblical worldview into the therapeutic process if it is something that you value.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My experience with CBT has involved helping people make efforts to change thinking patterns. Strategies have included recognizing cognitive distortions that are creating problems and then to process them in real time. Through the use of CBT interventions, I can also help people gain a better understanding of the behavior and motivation of others.
