I have worked for several years with adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma. At times traumatic events can occur in childhood and negatively impact present functioning. I enjoy helping individuals find the tools needed to overcome the pain of their past.
I would explain to my client that thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected. At times negative or unhelpful thoughts can lead to emotions and actions that make life harder. CBT works by helping you identify and change these patterns, so they can feel better and manage challenges more effectively. I use it to assist my clients with thinking errors and patterns. This in turn provides them with insight and better outcomes.
