My approach to mental health is holistic, trauma reduction-focused, and meeting patients where they are. Working with patients with first experience with mental health issues, or patients re-entering the community after prior hospitalization, emergency visit, or stepping down to a lower level of care, are some of my specialties. Francis provides ongoing medication management for various diagnoses. The goal of the first session is for the therapist to get to know the patient's background and the reasons they are in treatment. In the first session, I like to give a brief introduction of myself and my treatment approach, and to understand the history of the present condition, any recent triggers, and how those triggers affect the present activities of daily living. I work collaboratively with my clients to evaluate risks and develop plans and strategies to mitigate negative symptoms.
My greatest strength is the ability to assess, evaluate, listen actively, and build rapport with my patients. I pride myself on creating a trusting professional relationship with my patients and on showing commitment and empathy. I strive for perfection in diagnosing and prescribing the right treatments for my patients. i work collaboratively with my clients to develop coping skills and provide patient education.
We evaluate and provide treatment recommendations for patients with Autism Spectrum, schizophrenia spectrum, mood, anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, crisis, substance abuse, incarceration, insomnia, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, psychosis, relationship, and anger management issues are some of our specialties. Francis is currently seeing patients from school age through adults 18 years and older.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have a long experience using CBT with clients which prove to be effective in most clinical applications. I use CBT by assisting clients to recognize how their feelings affect their thoughts and their thoughts affects their behavior. I uses CBT to help client change their thinking patter, recognize pattern of unhelpful behaviors and learn better way of coping with distress.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
ACT is action oriented therapy in which clients learn to accept their emotions, thoughts and feelings rather than avoiding or denying them but should not allow those situations, feelings or emotions stop them from moving forward in their life. I help clients using the ACT understand the situation and commit to making the necessary changes in their behavior to achieve desire results.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution Focus Brief Therapy focuses on finding solution in the present and exploring one’s hope in the future to find solutions to one problems. Unlike other therapy that analyzes past events and paste problems. SFBT take the approach that patient know what they need to do to improve their lives and with appropriate coaching and questioning, patients are able to find the best solution.
