LICSW, 14 years of experience
Hi, I’m Cristina, a bilingual (English/Spanish) therapist with a deep commitment to helping adults navigate life transitions, relationship challenges, and emotional stress. Originally from Spain, I bring a culturally sensitive lens to my work, informed by my own journey of adapting and growing through change. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in respect, drawing from humanistic, strength-based, interpersonal, and cognitive behavioral therapies to meet you where you are and support meaningful growth.
During our first session, we’ll take the time to get to know each other and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your background, current challenges, and what brings you to therapy. You’re welcome to share at your own pace, there’s no pressure to disclose more than you feel comfortable with. We’ll also talk about your goals for therapy, what you hope to achieve, and how we might work together to support your well-being. This session is also a chance for you to ask any questions about the process and decide if it feels like the right fit for you.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in a deep respect for each person’s resilience and capacity for growth. Influenced by the work of Dr. Bruce Perry, I pay close attention to how early experiences shape our nervous system and emotional world, using a compassionate, brain-informed lens. I work from a strengths-based perspective, helping clients identify and build on what’s already working, rather than focusing solely on problems. I also draw inspiration from The Molecule of More, integrating insights from neuroscience to support motivation, curiosity, and change. Clients often describe me as calm, attuned, and empowering, and appreciate that our work focuses not just on healing, but on unlocking their potential.
Many of the individuals I work with are navigating significant life transitions, such as career changes, relocation, or cultural adjustment. I also support individuals facing relationship challenges, whether with partners, family, peers, or themselves, as well as those looking to build resilience and self-awareness. For some, this includes working through the impact of past trauma or difficult life experiences that continue to shape their thoughts, emotions, and relationships. If you value a collaborative and culturally sensitive approach to therapy, and are ready to explore your strengths and challenges in a supportive space, I’m here to help you reach your goals.
In my clinical practice, I use an integrative approach grounded in humanistic, interpersonal, strength-based, and cognitive behavioral therapies. I aim to create a safe, affirming space where clients, especially those from diverse cultural backgrounds, feel genuinely heard and supported. I explore relationship dynamics through an interpersonal lens while highlighting each client’s personal and cultural strengths. When helpful, I incorporate CBT techniques to address unhelpful thought patterns and build practical coping skills. This integrative style allows me to meet clients where they are and support meaningful, lasting change.
