Hi, I’m Bekah. I want to start by saying that reaching out for help takes courage. Whether or not we work together, I am glad that you are taking the time find a clinician with whom you feel comfortable. Do you ever find that you are significantly harsher with yourself than you would be to a friend or even a stranger? Life is hard enough on its own, yet sometimes we have a tendency to make it harder for ourselves. My role is to be there to listen in an unbiased way and help you process your thoughts to gain a better understanding of a situation and prepare for future experiences. The process of understanding is very personal, so I will work to use evidence-based methods that are a good fit for you. Everyone deserves to be heard and treated as a respected equal, regardless of age or any other factor. We are all just humans trying to be happy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Therapy is a partnership. I hope that anyone I meet with feels comfortable, supported, and heard. It is my goal to provide empathy, understanding, a place to vent, and an opportunity to make change. I also understand that one’s needs do not end at the end of a therapy session and therefore work to create specific plans of how to cope with life’s obstacles on a daily basis and to be available when possible for additional support.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I am certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and am comfortable using multiple other evidence-based therapies to help children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples work towards their goals. Within DBT are areas for mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. The skills in these areas can be tailored to address many of the reasons an individual may seek a therapeutic relationship. Therapy is a very individual experience, meaning what works for one person might not work for someone else. I will work with you to find modalities and tools that feel like a good fit and would be realistic in your personal life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe I am good at working with others due to my empathy and down-to-earth nature. I strive for individuals to feel heard and understood. I also will work with you to challenge thoughts and actions when necessary if they are not helping you achieve your goals. My style is to be supportive while continuing to be realistic. I am very passionate about being able to help others, which has prompted me to become certified in multiple areas in the mental health field. As human beings we are complex and therefore have complex situations that often require a range of knowledge and tools for problem solving.
