Are life’s ups and downs causing stress? Are you having difficulty navigating the diffcult waters of relationships, family or work? Do you want to learn how to be your own compass? Life can be diffcult. Learning skills and techniques to help manage stressors of life can help. We all carry emotional backpacks that hold the weight of all of our hurts, stressors and other emotional upheavals. If we don’t take thetime to sort though the backpack on a regular basis the pack can become heavy and weigh us down. Mastering Self Recovery can provide you the tool kit needed to sort through the back pack and manage all of what life throws at you. Utilizing  techniques from DBT, CBT, Solution Focused and Internal Family Systems I will work with you on finding what will work for you to become your own Master of Recovery. If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is about getting to know each other. We will discuss what has been going on in your life and what brings you to therapy. We will look at some of your goals for treatment and how we can work together to meet those goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I fully believe that what doesn't challenge you doesn't change you. Change is hard and rewarding. I am your guide on this journey. I am here to support you as you become the master of your own recovery and destiny in whatever path you are choosing. We will decide how to travel together to get you to your goal. I believe in experiential opportunities. I am down to earth and supportive of all people regardless of lifestyle or background.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

There is a strong connection in how we think about ourselves and the world around us and how we feel and then how we behave. Together we will become casual observers of our behavior and master how t0 change our thoughts so that our behavior and mood can change as well.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Being present in the moment, practicing radical acceptance, understanding the wise mind these are just some tools that DBT can provide to help us become masters in our own recovery from depression and anxiety.

Couples Counseling

For several years I have been working with couples as they work on developing better communication skills. Skills include Systems theory, empathetic listening, expressing empathetic listening developing relationship agreements and learning how to become friends. Many skills are learned from the Gottman method trainings through classes and workshops.
