I'm Erin Palmer, a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of experience in healthcare. I’m passionate about helping adolescents and young adults navigate mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD and more. My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that empowers adolescents and young adults to build a strong foundation for their mental health and overall well-being.
In your first session with me, you can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where we begin by getting to know each other. We’ll discuss your current concerns, mental health history, medication history and any goals you have for therapy. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and share anything that’s important to you. My aim is to create a comfortable space where you feel heard and understood, and together, we’ll start developing a personalized plan to address your needs and support your mental health journey.
As a provider, my greatest strengths are my ability to connect with adolescents and young adults on a personal level, my deep empathy and understanding of their unique challenges, and my commitment to providing culturally sensitive and compassionate care. I excel in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where young people feel comfortable opening up about their experiences. Additionally, my strong foundation in evidence-based practices, such as CBT and trauma-focused therapies, allows me to offer effective and personalized treatment plans that help my clients build resilience and achieve their mental health goals.
I specialize in helping adolescents and young adults who are facing challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and mood disorders. My approach is warm, compassionate, and tailored to meet the unique needs of each young person, providing them with a safe space to express themselves and learn effective coping strategies. As someone deeply committed to serving underserved communities, I understand the importance of culturally sensitive care and strive to make every young person and their family feel heard, supported, and empowered on their mental health journey.
In my practice, I teach the coping skills needed to manage distressing thoughts and emotions. This might include relaxation techniques, cognitive restructuring to challenge unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma, or problem-solving strategies to handle current life stressors. These skills empower patients to regain a sense of control and safety, which is often disrupted by trauma.
In my practice, I often incorporate CBT techniques to help my patients recognize how their thoughts influence their feelings and actions. I guide them through exercises that help them identify automatic negative thoughts and then challenge these thoughts by examining evidence for and against them. This process will help develop more balanced and realistic perspectives, leading to healthier emotional responses and behaviors.
In my practice, I incorporate mindfulness techniques to help my patients become more attuned to their internal experiences and develop healthier responses to stressors. This approach is particularly effective in helping someone who struggles with overwhelming emotions or someone who is easily caught up in a negative thought pattern.

Dr. Palmer has been very supportive and kind throughout our meetings. She listens intently and checks in about things that I didn't even remember. She's thorough and open minded.
