New to Grow
My name is Alma Acevez, a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist. I am an English/ Spanish speaking therapist with over 13 years of experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults and families. I specialize in Anxiety, Depression/Relationships. I use CBT/Psychodynamic/TF-CBT to help navigate challenges and create a safe space to grow. I believe everyone has the capacity for healing and I'm here to guide you. When I am not in session you can find me spending time with family, cooking new dishes and listening to audiobooks. Let's connect and explore how therapy can support you.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
I will try my best to make first session as comfortable as possible. First session will include introductions, gathering reason for seeking services and goals you have for yourself for treatment. There will be a lot of questions as I gather important information, discuss confidentiality and logistics. I expect many feelings to come up in first session, but we will go at your own pace.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I feel my strength in session is being present, nonjudgmental and challenging clients when needed. Once goals are established, I work towards supporting you in your efforts to progress towards goals.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am eager to connect with a client who is ready to take this journey of self-reflection. A client who is motivated, curious and ready to be challenged. I myself have been in therapy during different stages of my life and have found therapy to have the best outcome when I was ready to make myself a priority.
Child Parent Psychotherapy
A trauma focused therapy for young children 0-5 years of age, caregivers are present in sessions to address past traumatic experiences by strengthening bond, helping the child feel safe and improving the caregivers understanding of the child's needs.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral ( CBT ) helps with understanding how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected. In treatment we can challenge negative thinking patterns and unhelpful actions to develop healthier coping strategies.
Family Therapy
Family therapy is important work, including the family as a whole to improve communication and gain a better understanding of one another. I enjoy bringing the family as a whole together to identify stressors and practice real life skills to improve relationships within the home.
