LMHC, 22 years of experience
Hello and welcome to your journey to a better you! You have taken the first step, which can be very difficult to do. My name is Hope and I would be honored to work with you in whatever is going on in your life. I have over 20 years of experience working with various disorders and needs. I love helping others and watching the growth you can make. I am a mother, a partner, and a friend. I love animals and have several of my own. I will provide insight to some of my experiences, as relevant, and if I feel it would be of benefit to your growth. I love empowering people to be their best selves and gain awareness of themselves.
During our first session, I will complete an assessment to determine needs and identify some background. This allows me to gain greater insight into your dynamics. Assessments for anxiety and depression will be utilized throughout our time together. Gaining a comfortability with therapy/therapist will be a focus in our first few sessions. I like to apply homework to do at home. This helps supplement our sessions and allow you to make changes in your real time. We will develop a treatment plan that works for you.
I am very diverse in the approaches and methods. I have had successful experiences with the majority of the people I work with, showing a decrease in symptoms and increased quality of life. I work with you as a person, as you are the priority in all of this! I like to utilize person centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, Dialectical therapy, and motivational interviewing. I have strong background working with substance abuse/addiction, depression, anxiety, and the LGBTQ community.
Two of my passions are LGBTQ and substance abuse. I also enjoy working with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and women's needs. I look forward to riding alongside your journey and supporting you all the way! I am open to working with anyone and have a safe place approach, meaning I value you as a person and non-judgmental.
I utilize cognitive reframing, core beliefs, and structured problem solving. This is an effective treatment method for anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and substance abuse. I like to provide activities/work to complete at home as well. This will aid in reinforcing skills and putting them into practice. We will explore the connection between thoughts/feelings to behaviors.
Sometimes, it just helps to talk to someone to help work through life's stressors and make healthy lifestyle changes. I include elements of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal skills, and balancing acceptance/change. This method works well for anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance abuse.
Gender affirming therapy is crucial to someone going through the process of trans gendering. I have 10 years history of compassionate therapy and assisting clients with their transition. It is also effective in working with non-binary and gender diverse people, as well as concerns with self-esteem. Being a member of the LGBTQ community can also benefit from this therapy type.
Motivational therapy entails meeting someone where they are at and changes they want to make in life. Substance abuse, anxiety, and depression greatly benefit from this approach. I help to motivate people to make those positive changes. Techniques involve collaboration, advocacy, evocation, and autonomy. I will work progressively to help you make the healthy changes you desire.
