Hi there, I'm Andrea. Have you been feeling stressed and overwhelmed? Have changes or new challenges in your life evoked feelings or thought streams difficult to manage? Does it feel harder to know how to communicate what you need or feel supported by someone in your life? My goal in working with you is to develop trust and connection; to team with you so that we can identify what is not working and build skills so that you can feel more satisfied in your life. I have over 20 years experience working with adults, couples, adolescents and families. My approach is collaborative and individualized to meet your specific needs for support. I believe that improving the way we connect with each other and care for ourselves will support effective communication that leads to more supportive relationships. Together, we will utilize your strengths and practice new ways to manage stress, emotional difficulties, and the challenges life can bring. I have decades of experience helping clients with anxiety, mood issues, trauma, relationship problems and major life changes. I am straightforward and I want you to feel empowered and confident to enact the changes you seek. I want you to feel that the therapy process can be productive and helpful. You are not alone!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first meeting, I will begin by establishing a clear idea of what you need. I will ask questions, listen and begin to identify goals for the process so that you can feel like we have a 'direction'. My focus will be to put you at ease and help acclimate you to the process so that you can know if we are a good fit moving forward. I want you to feel heard and validated. Your life experiences are what make you, YOU! I also believe that it is critical that you feel like you can develop useful skills that work! To feel heard is not always enough. And identifying what is not working is just the 'first step' toward meaningful change.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I offer a variety of approaches in my practice that focus on practical ways to achieve your goals. Over the years, I have been trained to use: cognitive behavioral therapy [CBT], mindfulness practices, behavioral modification interventions, attachment-based therapies, family systems, emotion focused couple's therapy methods, sensory integration techniques, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy [TF-CBT], EMDR, and DBT skills development to help coach and integrate improved coping skills and self-awareness.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I pride myself on being able to join with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures, social communities and life circumstances. I have a background in clinical social work and prior to starting my own private practice, more than a decade of experience working with youth and families in the CPS/Foster Care system and Residential Treatment Programs. I am comfortable providing support across a broad spectrum of needs and challenges including loneliness, relationship difficulties, high family conflict, addiction issues, domestic violence, marital problems, youth struggling with LGBTQ+ issues, and more!!!. I feel confident that I can be of service even if you feel like you struggle to find the words to explain what is happening for you.
