I graduated with my Masters of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University in 2014 and am a Licensed Professional Counselor- Supervisor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I compassionately tailor my approach to my clients’ needs and advocate for each individual’s story, strengths, and resiliency. I utilize an integrative stye to the counseling process and pull from a variety of research-supported modalities, including CBT, CPT, Schema Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I have also completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy to help couples navigate through conflict and disconnection by turning towards each other with compassion and empathy.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing or goals you may want to achieve within counseling. This will help in developing an individualized plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Asking for help and change are vulnerable experiences, and I take my responsibility of creating an emotionally safe environment, a space without shame or judgment, very seriously in order for my clients to feel at ease throughout the counseling process.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have worked with clients in both inpatient and outpatient settings and specialize in therapeutic approaches for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, stress and life-adjustment issues, and substance use. I offer both in-person and telehealth options for sessions.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I incorporate CBT-based concepts and approaches to assist in recognizing and changing unhelpful thinking patterns to decrease emotional distress and maladaptive behaviors.
Schema Therapy
Schema Therapy is an integrative approach used to shift or disrupt recurring thought and behavior patterns that no longer serve you.
Gottman method
I have completed Level 1 training in the Gottman Method and use this as the primary approach in working with couples; however, the Gottman Method's strategies to improve communication and decrease conflict are skills that I like to incorporate in individual counseling as well.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative approach between counselor and client that is used to support progression in their identified goals or to explore the factors that may contribute to a resistance to change.
Psychoeducation
My professional philosophy is: If I'm doing my job right, then I'm working myself out of a job. So education is a big part of what I do in order for my clients to know how to apply the skills and techniques to effectively cope and navigate life's stressors beyond the therapeutic setting.
