Dennis is a certified trauma professional (PESI), serving clients Online within the great State of Texas, as an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Mr. Dennis Patrick Smith's greatest passion is in helping others with any unresolved trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); helping those of you with the underlying causes of addictions; and helping you and yours with relationship issues. In addition, Dennis began his EMDR training and experience from 2018 under Dr. Robbie Adler-Tapia and some brief advanced EMDR supervision by the late Dr Francine Shapiro, in 2019, and has continued EMDR training with other leaders in the field from 2018 to the present day.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Many of y'all would agree that it is often not easy to go to a counselor. A counseling session with Dennis usually begins with him asking you to be honest about 3 things that you are the expert of. Those 3 things are your thoughts, your feelings, and your behavior. I collaborate with you while being nonjudgmental, to avoid wasting your time and hard-earned money. Many of my clients here have told me in their own words, “You get so real!” Counseling is too serious to be anything less.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Many clients have said it Best, and if y'all ask, we will provide a growing list of reviews, of clients that are happy to have found and hired me to serve them. My goals include listening to the point of your feeling heard consistently; helping you help yourself get better, and not just using a band-aid effect to make you feel better; and working collaboratively towards where you want your counseling goals to reach.

My treatment methods

EMDR

My experience with EMDR began in 2018, and today I still find EMDR highly effective with distress; anxiety; depression; trauma, including PTSD; and relationship issues.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My experience with CBT also began in 2018, and today I love using CBT when integrated with EMDR

Christian Counseling

as a faith-based thinking Christian, I have a great appreciation for the way God enables the holistic approach to healing people, more holistically, indeed.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My experience with Rogerian includes using unconditional positive regard to build/establish an effective therapeutic alliance (fancy way used by our field to describe building rapport with a client), and without this being established, a client is wasting their time and hard earned money with any therapist unable to build rapport and trust with them.
