About me

I started out as a kid from Queens, NY who volunteered on the weekends working with individuals with autism while I was in high school. That propelled me into the world of social services. From there, I worked with individuals with severe psychiatric concerns, to families in need throughout NYC, the shelter system, students in higher education, residential group homes for system impacted adolescence and community mental health in the Southern California region. I believe we all have our stories from lived experiences that play a direct role in our daily struggles. This is why I utilize a psychodynamic & mindfulness approach that helps folks to understand what factors of their past feeds the stressors of their present and how to live more freely in the “now”.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

To have an open conversation with a person who is also trying to do their best “at life”. That's why I welcome people to be "human" in session versus "being a certain way in therapy". I put great value in growing a positive and trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients. I am authentic in who I am in and out of sessions and that’s what I hope to share with you. So we’ll go slow and together, we’ll call things out as we see it.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I’ve been told that I provide a calm and balancing energy and I'm also transparent and compassionate in my delivery. So when we need to go slow and you need someone to hear your side of things, I’m there. And if you need a firm boundary and a gentle push for growth and accountability, I can provide that as well. A little humor also goes a long way.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

As a Guyanese-American man of South Asian ancestry, I understand the importance of BIPOC representation and it’s my pleasure to provide guidance to those who seek it. I enjoy working with motivated adults and couples from various walks of life who are curious about understanding how their past may be impacting their present or looking to gain more awareness of what’s going on for them and taking meaningful steps toward accessing their higher sense of “self”. I’m interested in working individuals struggling with anxiety, multigenerational trauma, life transitions, cultural factors, relationship concerns and men who are curious about exploring their understanding of “masculinity”.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

I think there's tremendous value in understanding how things from our past influences our present and I assist client in coming to peace with this and learning how to stay here in the “now”.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is not "just" meditating or getting into a "zen state". It's practicing being present and using grounding/breathing skills in an outside of our sessions to connect to a neutral part of yourself. Therein lies your peace.

This was my first time in therapy and Andrew was very welcoming to me and offered a non judgemental space to me which was something that I was anxious about prior to meeting with him!
