Hi there! My name is Knar Kaakejian and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker of Middle Eastern and Armenian descent. My approach to therapy is all about being person-centered and helping you prioritize your personal growth. I mostly enjoy a psychoanalytic style of therapy and focusing on client strength and empowerment. So let's work together to enhance your quality of life!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My hope is that our first session will be an opportunity for you to relieve some weight off your shoulders. My communication style is very relaxed and non-intimidating. I want us to feel like we are having a conversation, with no judgment, no expectations, just us focusing on getting you to where you want to be. We will complete an intake together, where you'll be able to provide all the information that you feel I should know about you and regarding your reasons for seeking treatment. Once I gather all the details, I can then do what I do best, which is putting the puzzle pieces together to help individuals heal and move forward in their lives.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a clinician I feel my strengths are rooted in my collaborative approach, my empathy, and compassion. I am one to be fully invested in the lives of my clients. I truly believe that sometimes all it takes is one person on our side to help us make it through the difficult moments.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I love to use CBT with clients of all ages to support them with making a connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. When we implement and practice CBT strategies, we can increase the use of positive coping mechanisms to manage our everyday stressors.

Compassion Focused

Compassion focused treatment is helpful with promoting positive emotional well being, enhancing self-esteem, and learning how to nurture our own self-compassion.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I am a therapist of Middle Eastern/Armenian roots and a first generation child of immigrants. I understand the importance of cultural humility and sensitivity when working with clients of all backgrounds, taking into consideration each individual's perception of what therapeutic support means to them.

Psychodynamic

With psychodynamic therapy, I create a safe and non-judgmental space to support you in reflecting on the various experiences throughout your lifetime. We'll work together to achieve a better understanding of the patterns and themes associated with your thoughts/feelings/behaviors, in order to rise above and work through the presenting issues.

Strength-Based

I wholeheartedly believe the client is the expert in their lives. I will never tell you what you need to do, however, I will challenge you when necessary to empower you in making the decisions that can enhance your overall wellbeing.
