Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a Licensed/Registered/Board Certified Art Therapist based in New Jersey. I received a Masters in Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy from Caldwell University. I have 14 years of experience as a clinician working across several settings and with various populations. I believe in forming a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship to make clients feel comfortable and confident so that they can work towards their goals successfully. I particularly like to use creative interventions to help with this process. I also provide clinical supervision to professionals working towards their credentials for both counseling and art therapy: I hold an ACS and ATCS.
In our first session, we will go over some basic information to get to know each other and ensure that you feel comfortable. We will work together to organize concerns to develop goals for therapy and discuss your preferences for interventions moving forward.
Having worked with individuals with a wide range of obstacles to overcome, I have developed effective methods of making clients feel calm, confident, and empowered regardless of their current struggles. This process of grounding and establishing self-worth is critical in setting the stage for effective therapy.
I enjoy working with clients to build confidence and a sense of control. It is easy to feel overwhelmed or consumed by anxiety or negative emotions, and I love working with clients to show them that simple changes can make a huge difference for them. I am passionate about finding strengths in every client to build on and improve their sense of self.
I have always practiced from a viewpoint of using the client's presentation and input to guide the sessions and overall treatment. My role is to meet the client where they are emotionally and work together to help them express emotions, feel supported, and meet whatever goals they may have for themselves. Of course I can assist in providing some structure and guidance to clients who need that, but I will always use client preferences as the starting point for counseling. I am really there to be a safe venue and ear for the client to share and express. This is just as important in making progress as it is for building a positive and strong therapeutic relationship, which I believe is crucial when finding a therapist. My goal is to make clients feel comfortable, heard, and validated so that they can fully engage in the therapeutic process and therefore reap the maximum benefits.
As a licensed, registered, and board certified Art Therapist, I am passionate about using creative interventions to help clients fully express themselves in ways that make them feel comfortable, safe, and confident. Creative tasks can help clients feel in control and confident, gain insight, and release emotions more easily.
