I am a board-certified mental health nurse practitioner. I partner with my patients to build a treatment plan that matches your individual needs. In my practice, there will be no gaslighting or judgement - one small fact that most of my patients enjoy is that I will flat out ask everybody "What do you think is going on? Did you have a diagnosis or treatment options in mind?". These questions provide a lot of insight as they may bring forward points that we may have otherwise not discussed, while making sure that I hear your concerns directly. We will explore as much or as little as you are willing to speak about, and agree on a treatment plan together. I also enjoy getting to know my clients personally. I am a firm believer that therapy can only help you if it is with a provider that actually cares and will devote the time and focus you deserve.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Our first session will be a lot of talking- I will collect a lot of information about your medical and family history before we discuss any mental health concerns. I will ask direct questions, such as any legal history and substance use. I understand these questions make people uncomfortable, but please remember that I only ask as it may impact the medications I can safely prescribe. Nothing you disclose is provided to anybody without your permission and signed consent. I will ask you specifically what your worst symptoms are, and I will do both a broad questionnaire, as a focused assessment for your main problem area. We will discuss medications if you are comfortable taking them, and discuss which side effects are most important for you to avoid before making any decisions. You may or may not leave with a prescription depending on your needs. I have many screenings and tests we can do if we are honing in on a specific diagnosis. All patients will have a working diagnosis - though as we get to know each other, the diagnosis may change.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I listen to my patients and respect your decisions, as ultimately you are the most important person in your own treatment. I will not push medications on you, but I will gladly sit with you and cover any and all treatment options. I will take the time to educate you and show you reputable sources of information if you wish to do some searching on your own.
