Hello, my name is Katie. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a master's degree from the University of Argosy and 12 years of experience. I specialize in trauma, grief, and depression. My client-centered philosophy ensures that the client leads their therapy journey while I support them. Building a strong therapeutic alliance and developing lasting coping skills are crucial to me. I am compassionate and dedicated to helping my clients heal.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will start with an introduction with what brought them them here and identifying their goals, followed by a quick psychosocial assessment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With 12 years of field experience, my strengths include building a therapeutic alliance, identifying the causes of clients' struggles, and applying techniques to help them achieve their goals.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I work with individuals who have experienced grief, trauma, and depression. My goal is to support them in identifying and addressing their struggles, triggers, and fears. My clients explore new coping strategies to manage feelings of being stuck, overwhelmed, or fearful, and through the journey they will learn to trust themselves in making decisions without fear, while promoting hope, peace, and acceptance of their progress.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), my role is to help clients understand the connections between their anxiety or depression and the root causes of their difficulties. I achieve this by developing strategies to change negative patterns and addressing their behaviors, which includes challenging and reframing skewed thoughts.

Grief Therapy

Grief can stem from various experiences, not just physical loss. It can arise from significant life changes like losing a job, an unexpected move, a breakup, or a traumatic event. As a therapist, my role is to provide a supportive and safe environment where you can process these complex feelings. Together, we can explore coping strategies through talking, art, journaling, or other creative outlets, to help you integrate loss into your life with purpose. I offer a non-judgmental space, ensuring you feel safe to express feelings of being stuck, angry, numb, or overwhelmed during your journey with grief.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a collaborative approach focusing on your reasons for change. Together, as client and therapist, we'll identify what matters to you and what motivates you. By building a strong therapeutic relationship, we can explore your goals. I will listen to your ideas and help connect your values to your chosen goals, ensuring you remain in control of the process. We'll also discuss the emotions and challenges that come with change.

Trauma Informed Care

As a therapist, I am here to help you understand how trauma has impacted you. I aim to support you and create a safe space for you to tell your story without judgement. Through the therapeutic relationship based on trust, transparency, and collaboration, we will address concerns, manage trauma responses, and validate your experiences.
