I am an Army Veteran and Licenced Mental Health Counselor and I specialize in trauma resolution. I have almost 2 decades of experience working with military and first responders who are struggling with PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, and TBI. I have specialized training in a unique brain optimization technique called The Cortina Method, mainly used with trauma resolution but with protocols for self-limiting beliefs, chronic pain, and unresolved guilt. I have additional specialized training in ketogenic nutritional interventions for mental health disorders. I am also trained in Rapid Resolution Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I am a "dive right in" kind of therapist. I want to make sure that even in our first session together, you start feeling better immediately. Get ready to have homework, therapy will only work if you are willing to apply the techniques we discuss in your everyday life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength is helping people find rapid relief for their distress. Many people have been in therapy before and may have found it helpful, but didn't actually provide a permanent solution to their struggles. There is only so much complaining we should be allowed to do, after that threshold is met, we have to do something about it. My form of therapy is empowering you to take back control of your life once and for all. I will push you hard, confront you and hold you accountable, and on the other side, you will find the freedom and ease you have always desired.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an intervention based on this premise Thought = Feeling = Behavior The primary effort of CBT is identifying thought distortions, having strategies to change these distortions and thus changing the feelings and behaviors that result.

Daialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is an intervention based on this premise Feelings = Thoughts = Behavior The primary effort of DBT is identifying feelings, having strategies to intervene with emotions and thus changing the thoughts and behaviors that result.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-focused therapy is an evidence-based type of talk therapy that focuses on what clients want to achieve through therapy (goal-focused) rather than analyzing the problems that brought them into treatment. While SFBT respects each person’s past and what brought the person to this point, it places the focus on what the person wants to be different. It focuses on what people want to achieve rather than on the problem(s) with which they are struggling. Solution-Focused therapists using this therapeutic approach help their clients to construct a clear vision of a preferred future for themselves. In working toward this future, the problem(s) and past become more manageable and most often resolved, thus effecting a sustainable, desired change in behavior.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have a specialization in two brain-based healing methodologies: Rapid Resolution Therapy and The Cortina Method. Both methods are similar as they focus on the reconsolidation of memories and self-beliefs by using the subconscious innate ability to optimize brain functioning. These two methods have various protocols based on the presentation of the problem. What is similar is that in both of these methods, we don't spend any time focusing on the problem, rather, we train the brain to move towards the optimal goal. These methods are very effective in resolving trauma, either episodic or chronic.
