My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a Doctor of Nursing Practice specializing in psychiatry and mental health (DNP, PMHNP), I have extensive experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, each with unique challenges and backgrounds. I use CBT with clients who experience depression, anxiety, trauma and clients who struggle in relationships. Role playing, thinking pattern and communication exercises are some of the methods I use to address the various issues.

Reality Therapy

I use reality therapy to empower patients to take charge of their lives and circumstances. Consequently clients are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions, which leads to greater self-awareness and personal growth.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I firmly believe that culture starts in the home and plays a critical role in shaping an individual's mental health and well-being. My extensive experience in treating clients from diverse cultural backgrounds has been greatly enriched by living in various regions, including the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Africa, as well as inner cities and suburbs.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I teach clients core DBT skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. My approach focuses on validating clients' experiences while challenging them to develop healthier coping mechanisms and improve their emotional and behavioral responses.

Compassion Focused

I have extensive experience implementing Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to assist clients in developing self-compassion and emotional resilience. My practice involves helping individuals who struggle with self-criticism, shame, and low self-esteem, often related to trauma, depression, and anxiety. I empower clients to break the cycle of negative self-evaluation and build a more compassionate and fulfilling relationship with themselves, enhancing their overall psychological health and quality of life.
