My name is Lareane Nuby, and I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with a Supervisory endorsement. I earned both a BSW degree in 2004, and then went on to pursue a Master of Social Work degree from Youngstown State University in 2007. I have over 24 years of social work experience, working with individuals, from many diverse backgrounds, populations, and of age groups. Some of my practice settings included; medical/psychiatric hospitals, schools, nursing homes, group homes, hospice and child welfare. I believe that everyone is a unique individual, and deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. I realize that the journey of life can be very complicated and difficult to walk at times, but if you are ready to take that first step, I am willing to walk beside you, and support you on your journey towards self-empowerment, and change.

As a first time client, you can expect me to introduce my self and role, verify clients information, review informed consent and "mandated reporter" laws, gather client's background information, discuss what has brought client to grow therapy and what goal(s) they are hoping to accomplish in therapy services,

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strength(s) as a therapist is that I am a client focus, empathetic, active listener, critical thinker, fierce advocate, and always promoting client to move towards self-empowerment in the therapeutic relationship.

I enjoy working with client's, who have a wide range of concerns including: depression, anxiety, loss and grief, anger, relationship issues, trauma, parenting problems, and self-esteem issues. My therapeutic styles includes the following: cognitive-behavioral therapy, strength-based perspective, motivational interview technique, task centered, solution focused, system theories, acceptance commitment theory, reality theory, and trauma informed care.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used the CBT cognitive method for over (20) plus years. My goal is to help individuals process/ understand their thinking patterns and how it impacts their overall behavior and functioning. I also assist the individual in identifying/utilize healthy coping mechanisms with the goal of changing their thinking, to promote the desired behavior outcome.

Motivational Interviewing

I have utilized the MIT treatment modality over the past (10) years to help client's figure out "where they are at" in the change process, when addressing and/or facing problems in their lives.

Strength-Based

I come from an academic background, where the Strengths- Based Perspective was a core foundation of our social work program. I have over 22 years experience, utilizing this method. My goal is to encouraged the patient to identify /utilized their strengths and resources to help solve their problems.

Trauma Informed Care

I have utilize this treatment modality to assist client's who have faced trauma(s) in their lives by focusing on the (5) Key principles which includes; (Safety, Trustworthiness Choice, Collaboration and Empowerment).

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I have over (24) years of working with individuals from various, ages, background, culture, religion, belief systems, and vulnerable populations. As a therapist, I realized the importance of how cultural sensitivity plays a key role in strengthening the therapeutic relationship with clients, In addition, it helps the therapist a sense of understanding through the lens of the client's world view.
