I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, born and raised in rural Illinois. I have been working in the mental health field for over 5 years. I have a passion for working with the LGBTQIA+ community. I use an eclectic approach to provide trauma-information intervention that fits client's unique needs. I provide a warm, empathetic, yet real strengths based perspective approach to client's via tele-health from a secure location.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will mostly be introductory. My goal will be for each of us to get familiar with one another and discuss what your goals are for therapy at this time. My hope is for us to both get a good sense if we will be a good therapeutic fit. I will give you the opportunity to ask me any questions or voice any concerns you may have before starting therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is my empathy and dedication. I most certainly do not have everything all figured out and I will always do my best to grow and learn in areas that can help to better serve my clients.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

Each client has a unique set of needs for therapy. I use trauma informed, evidence based practices from varying treatment modalities in order to meet each client's unique needs.

Strength-Based

It can be so easy for us to focus on the things we are doing "wrong," when we are wanting to make positive changes in our lives. When we focus our attention on our strengths, this can help us to better identify tools that actually work to make those positive changes. I focus on expanding my client's understanding of how various efforts to motivate ourselves affect our ability to think clearly and make sound decisions. We will work together as a team to identify and increase your personal strengths to work towards your personal goals!

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a commonly used modality to help challenge unhelpful and inaccurate ways of thinking. I help client's to better identify when they may be struggling with unhelpful thinking patterns that can affect their feelings and behaviors. We can work on challenging these thoughts, learning methods to understand where thoughts are coming from, and regulating emotions.

Trauma Informed Care

I have training to provide trauma informed care through Southern Illinois School of Medicine; Trauma Focus Behavioral Health Fellowship. I help client's further their understanding of what happens to the brain when exposed to traumatic experiences. Understanding the physiological effects of traumatic experiences and increasing utilizing mindfulness self-compassion are two tools I utilize to provide trauma informed care.
