We all want to feel more secure, stable, and essentially "good enough," but the uncertainties of life can throw us off balance. We are not broken. I believe that therapy provides the much-needed insight and awareness to help us on the journey of growth and self-acceptance. It is through this therapeutic relationship that we can transform our perceptions of ourselves and develop more positive coping skills, better self-care, and new thought patterns. It is my passion to create a warm, calm, safe space in which clients feel comfortable exploring the negative thoughts and stressful situations life can bring. My approach to therapy is one of collaboration and emotional support based on open communication, respect, and non-judgment. You are the expert in your own life. I sincerely believe that we all have the potential for a balanced life with a little guidance and support. As a licensed clinical social worker I seek to provide that guidance to empower my clients to develop independence, decisiveness, and confidence. I specialize in working with college-aged students, transitional-aged youth ages 18 to 26, and women dealing with issues including anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, career conflict, and general stress.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, then address the specific challenges you are facing. This will help us to formulate a plan for follow-up sessions as we develop a trusting relationship and I learn more about you as a person.
The treatment methods and tools I utilize
I practice utilizing an eclectic approach. As a social worker, I truly believe that mental health issues are bigger than an "individual problem" and am aware of the systemic issues that can and do affect people. I practice from a person-centered, compassionate-focused lens and utilize methods including strengths-based, solution-focused, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Although I have worked with people across all age groups, I have a particular passion for working with college-aged students and young adults ages 18 through 26. This is a pivotal point in life where we are stepping out of our families of origin and learning about who we are as individuals. We are trying on new identities and meeting new people. I love being able to assist in processing the confusing feelings and thoughts that can happen at this time. Although it can be an anxiety-provoking time, it is also an exciting time and can be much easier to navigate with support.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have a passion for working with college students and young adults between the ages of 18 and 30.
