Hi there, I'm Joo. Do you ever feel like you're in survival mode, that your emotions are too strong to handle or that your emotions don't fit the surrounding situation? I am a brainspotting specialist, and I have helped people with various forms of anxiety, depression and trauma find stability, heal and flourish. I'm here to help. I believe that no one is more invested in your healing than you are. Together, we can get to the root of the issue and help you feel better. I provide a confidential, non-judgemental space where you can share freely and know that I am invested in your healing and growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Each session is crafted specifically to you. If you need to talk the entire session, I hold the space and listen. If you don't know where to start, I have many prompts I will give to help you assess how you are doing, your needs and your preferences. You just have to come as you are, and the goal is to have you feeling better after each session and increasingly better across our journey together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Brainspotting has proven to be the fastest and longest lasting therapy for treating trauma and various forms of emotional distress. Basically, where you look is how you feel. Together, we will find focusing spots where we will support your brain towards finding stabilization and healing. We can also use it to to improve areas in life such as sports performance, confidence and peace (to name a few examples). With CBT, we would take specific incidences and break apart the event, the thoughts, the actions and the emotions. We slow down the process and challenge negative beliefs repeatedly allowing for different outcomes in the future. All the therapies and techniques I use place you in the "driver's seat". I strive to honor your preferences and wishes, and I start by trusting you. My hope is that ultimately you will flourish without me.

Brainspotting

In my experience, Brainspotting is a powerful tool that helps people have breakthroughs in psychological health. Utilizing Brainspotting, I help you discover what the core subject is and how you experience it. Together, we find the "spot" that impacts you most. Then, we would observe and help your brain process through the various thoughts and emotions towards homeostasis. People are often surprised by how much better they feel and how much progress they have made in hindsight.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have found CBT to an excellent tool for managing emotions and interpersonal dynamics. Together, we take moments in your life, that you wish you resolved differently, and we slow time down. We break apart each event, internal thought, reaction and emotional response, and we repeatedly work on inserting healthier thoughts and actions. This often leads to better emotional stability as well as more manageable and healthy communication with others.
