New to Grow
Hi, I am Michelle. I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 10 years experience working with a diverse population with a strong background working with teens, adults and caregivers. Life can be challenging, and can bring a degree of stress that can be associated with positive and uncomfortable circumstances making it hard to enjoy life and have stability. I am a strong believer that change can happen. I focus on you, using strength and solution based interventions. You will be heard and provided a safe space so you can work towards your goals.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
It's important for me to hear and understand you. In our first session, we will get to know one another, discuss your reason for seeking treatment as well as areas that bring comfort and joy in your life. This will be the beginning of our work together to create a plan that addresses your goals which should bring increased peace, stability and sense of control to your life.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I am flexible and think outside the box. Life never gives a blue print or instructions so being patient, thinking outside the box and letting the process work without rushing to a resolution.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I would love working with client's who are experiencing life challenges such as personal issues, family concerns. Although you may feel overwhelmed and uncertain, you have the desire for your situation to change and are committed to yourself.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help you understand the thought, emotion and behavior connection. For most, its difficult to see how this connection can impact their daily lives and the challenges faced. We will discuss strongly held beliefs and distortions also using worksheets, role playing, biblio and sometimes video materials to increase awareness, coping and skill building.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Life sometimes has daily changes that can shift focus quickly. I use Solution Focused Brief Treatment to assist you with focusing on resolutions to specific concerns.
Psychoeducation
When individuals enter treatment, they discover there are various treatment aspects which can be challenging to understand. Psychoeducation is a good approach to help clients gain knowledge and understanding and doing so in a manner you can grasp and understand information and/or data.
