Hi! I am an independently licensed and EMDR Certified therapist in Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, Florida, and the US Virgin Islands and have been practicing for 6 years. I work with individual clients ages 13 and older and specialize in trauma and PTSD, but also work with a variety of other issues as well, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, family conflict, major life transitions, stress management, ADHD, OCD, and identity exploration.
In the first session, we'll begin with brief introductions and then we work together to do the intake and diagnostic interview, which is an in depth session including questions that help me get a better idea of what your current and past challenges are and also help us develop a plan moving forward.
Having worked in the mental health field since 2011 and as a licensed therapist since 2018, I have been fortunate to work with many individuals with diverse backgrounds and diagnoses, which has helped me to develop my skills, learn to approach difficulties and be able to think critically when faced with new challenges. I've also been able to take extensive trainings in trauma and PTSD, and have become Certified in EMDR, in order to best provide for and help clients move forward from challenges impacting them and holding them back.
I enjoy being able to work with and help individuals who come to me for help with resolving issues surrounding PTSD and trauma, especially those who have previously sought help and haven't found relief. It is so wonderful to see how much relief people can get from such debilitating triggers and symptoms and so rewarding to be able to help in this way.
I've used CBT extensively and use it with clients to help to become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, as well as how we react in challenging situations and help us to react in more effective ways.
I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and have worked extensively with clients having difficulties associated with trauma and PTSD. I use this regularly with clients to help them to reprocess traumatic memories and this helps them in that these memories are not forgotten but they are no longer associated in the brain as negative or traumatic.
